TRUCE Spa Giveaway
Earlier this year, we ran an Instagram giveaway for longtime client TRUCE Spa. Social media giveaways are such a fun way to boost your brand’s visibility, gain more fans, and inject some energy into your social accounts!
The goals & strategy
The goals of this giveaway were to increase the spa’s reach on Instagram and grow their follower base. As a local, service-based business, TRUCE’s ultimate goal on social media is to drive traffic to their website and secure appointment bookings. Increasing their followers means there will be more eyeballs on the promos and other content that they post. But we didn’t want just any eyeballs – we wanted to reach the spa’s target audience. We needed to offer a prize that their ideal client would love. The strategy: collaborate on a giveaway package with other businesses whose clientele overlaps with TRUCE’s.
What worked well
We were able to collaborate with two excellent partners – The Lakehouse Bellevue (a neighboring restaurant) and Bellevue Collection (the retail resort destination that includes the Westin Bellevue hotel where TRUCE Spa is located). Partnering with these two businesses:
Gave TRUCE the opportunity to make a personal connection with their neighboring businesses
Gave us some really great content to work with on social media
Helped TRUCE reach far more people than we could have otherwise
By sharing TRUCE’s giveaway on their own accounts, these partners pushed TRUCE’s social content out to their own followers and boosted TRUCE’s reach just as we’d hoped. Their willingness to be engaged with this giveaway helped drive its success.
To create an enticing prize, we bundled one of TRUCE Spa’s most popular massage packages with a gift card for The Lakehouse and a gift card for Bellevue Collection. We outlined the details of the giveaway, including the terms, the prizes offered, the general messaging, and the timeline (based on when we know TRUCE’s followers are most active on Instagram). Once that was approved, we started creating photo and video content to promote the contest. We used a mix of stock content, photos that our partners sent us, and video that Kristi filmed herself to create our giveaway posts. We chose the winner at random using a comment picker, Arbitery.
The results
Our client was delighted with the results of the giveaway – we hit our goals of increased reach and followers, ensuring that TRUCE will be able to get their message in front of more people throughout the year, and not just any people, but the right people: primarily women local to the area (or who visit often), are interested in wellness, and will be interested in hearing more from TRUCE. How do we know? Well, the high interest in the prize package was its own proof. But, we had another bit of data: participant comments!
To earn extra entries, people could comment with their answer to a question. We asked, “what are some self care habits you’d like to adopt in 2023?” And wow, we received some kind, honest, funny, and insightful answers! There were so many good ones that we decided to highlight some of the responses in our winner announcement post.
Not only is engaging with followers this way great for increasing connection and building trust, it is the best kind of market research! Understanding your customers – what they like, what they need, what they struggle with, what they enjoy – is one of the most important parts of communicating your business’s message to them in a way that resonates. In this case, the responses we received confirmed that we are reaching the right people and that our brand messaging is on target, and this info will help us tailor future content (and may even spark new ideas for promos and offerings from TRUCE Spa).
